Thank You Gift Baskets

Sometimes thank you gift baskets or other personalized gifts are the only way to get your point across. While a thank you note is always appropriate, going that extra mile and sending a gift really makes an impression, in your personal life or in business.

One October, my husband and I hosted an out-of-town guest for a couple nights. A few days later, a Halloween cookie basket arrived addressed to our 2 young boys, full of colorful mummy and Frankenstein and witch cookies. The looks on the kids' faces were priceless.

Here are some more neat ideas for a Thank You gift, baskets and more:

  • Gift Baskets

These take some planning and a bit more money but they make a big splash. You can send cookies, wine, chocolates, just about anything. My favorite is cookies though-- even if the recipient isn't a huge cookie person, the basket in their office will make them popular :) Some places to get these yummy thank you gift baskets:

  • Gift Certificates

These are convenient to buy (usually there's a kiosk in the grocery store), can be purchased in various amounts, and you can surely find a store your person will like. Every bit as useful as Thank You Gift Baskets and then some. If you want to get them online, here are my favorites:

    • I don't know how they do it but Restaurant.com will sell you a $25 gift certificate for just $10. Click the box to the right to enter your zip code and see the restaurants they offer. This makes a great gift.

    • Free movie rentals every month. I like Blockbuster.com over other mail-order movie rentals because you can swap your movie at the real Blockbuster store so you're never without entertainment. It's the gift that keeps giving.

Click the box below for a free trial, there's honestly nothing to lose.

    • Movie tickets: Just make sure there is a movie theater of that type nearby

    • Amazon.com. What can you not get there?

  • Personalized Gifts

If you know your recipient well, get them a little something they enjoy:

  • Flowers

Flowers are the pre-cursor to Thank You Gift Baskets. They're an oldie but goody. Potted plants are especially nice. Some of my favorite online shops include:

  • Balloon Bouquets

Big, bold, not too expensive, easy to get and always bring a smile to people's faces. Do you notice that even seeing a stranger carrying a huge bunch of balloons makes you smile?

Your local grocery store can probably make one up for you on-demand. Or try the InternetFlorist. (In the search box, type "Thank you balloons".) They'll even deliver today if you order before 2pm!
